The Best Personalized Gifts on Etsy
Truth: New parents get lots of gifts. And while there isn’t a single spit up-covered soul who’s going to be sad about someone handing them a fresh pack of size 1s or an Amazon gift card, the presents that seem to resonate most are the personalized ones.
Now that my girls are 4 and 7, most of our baby stuff has been handed down or donated—with the exception of anything that has their names on it. I don’t know why exactly, but skimming my finger over a ridge of silky peach thread that spells Vaughn in perfect script or tracing Reeve’s smooth block letters etched into soft wood sends me right back to those newborn days. I can’t bring myself to toss that stuff, so their personalized rattles, teethers, and blocks now decorate the Christmas tree and style our bookshelves and the monogrammed clothes, lovies, and blankets are boxed up and stored away for sometime in the distant future (like tomorrow afternoon) when I get teary and emotional and miss my tiny babes.
BUT I DIGRESS. Etsy is hands-down the best place to find heirloom-quality personalized gifts, though you’ll have to dig around a bit to find the real gems. Today, though, you’re in luck—I’ve done the hard work for you. Keep scrolling for just a few of my favorite finds.
THE SWEETEST ABC BOOK
This is such a fab gift for a little one who’s just learning the alphabet. Kiddos love turning the pages, especially once they know what’s coming: “A is for Apple, B is for book, C is for Carys!” Book, $35
A BELOVED RATTLE
I don’t know why little hands are so drawn to this beech wood rattle—the feel of the smooth wood? the satisfaction of sliding the rings?—but I’m not questioning it because the engraving is G-O-R-G-E. Rattle, $22
AN UNEXPECTED NURSERY PRINT
Love. This. So. Much. You know that friend who has everything? The one with stellar taste? This one’s for her. Print, $20
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MEMORY BOOK
Baby books are so…I don’t know, monotonous? Draining? Instead, give a gorgeous blank journal like this one with a note that suggests jotting down just one line every day, every week, or whenever the mood strikes. Book, $45
